Romanian deadlift vs. conventional deadlift

Use the RDL for repeated hinge training with an emphasized eccentric phase. Use the conventional deadlift when the goal is lifting a load from the floor with coordinated knee and hip extension.

How to decide

Choose the option you can perform consistently with an appropriate range, stable technique, and measurable progression. Exercise selection is only one part of results; total training, recovery, and adherence matter more than finding a supposed winner.
